Getting back your shape after pregnancy

Depending on how much body weight you have gained weight loss after pregnancy can take some effort and time management. The important thing is to set your mind from the beginning and believe in your heart that it can be done. In this article I will provide you with essential guidelines to maximize your effort so you can lose the excess body weight and get back to your normal shape, or even better if you think you need to. One thing is to realize here and that is if you had a cesarean section surgery or C-section surgery then you need to set your goals a little differently than a woman who has had a normal childbirth. The reason for that is because the woman who had the C-section surgery typically needs a significant amount of body healing time. And it can take as long as 4-8 months depending on how fast your body recovers and can fully perform fitness workouts. After all it is a major surgery, and they cut through all these abdomen tissue layers to get to the baby. Weight loss after pregnancy and nutrition This is no different than a regular woman who is seeking to lose weight and was not pregnant before so the rules are almost the same but for a few exceptions. If you are breastfeeding, then you need to eat nutrient-dense meals to produce mother's milk to feed your baby.

Other than that you make sure to stick to following guidelines. Consume whole foods like:

-Whole eggs,
-All kind of meats like fish, beef, chicken, turkey, and so on, but not processed meat. .
-Fresh or frozen vegetables. But whenever it is possible stick with the fresh produce.
-Fresh or frozen fruit. Again, same as above, but it is best to consume fresh fruits as priority.
-Dairy products especially yogurts and other similar dairy products where they are loaded with probiotics.
-Each of your meals should have a portion of fat, protein, and carbohydrates.
-Try to eat from 4 to 6 meals and that is including snacks.

Time to Exercise
- Asking a woman to take care of a baby, manage some house tasks, and work a full or part-time job is overwhelming and I totally understand. But the issue here is your body won't understand this and will keep gaining weight. So as a woman being skillful in managing all the responsibilities towards your family and your job, I am sure you can handle and manage some time to invest in your health. So when your qualified physician gives you the green light to start exercising:

-Start working out gradually and progressively, and listen to your body and be the judge of when you are ready to take it to the next step.

-If you are juggling with different tasks and you have only 10 minutes at this particular time, then do it and then exercise for another 10 minutes at a different time of the day. In my experience of training women with this same situation this can be as challenging both mentally as well as physically. So get the support from your family and whoever else you can to make this work.

My Long Frustrating Battle With Infertility

Like many young newlyweds, my husband and I didn’t want children at first. As a matter of fact, we did everything we could to prevent it. But, after five years of marriage, we knew the time had come – we were ready.

With a bit of arrogance (after all, we never thought we couldn’t conceive), we jumped headlong into the quest to get pregnant. Only it didn’t happen. Why? We wondered after several months. Sure, by now I was in my mid-30’s, but I was healthy and strong and had never had any indication that getting pregnant would be a problem once I decided that I was ready for a family.

What should have been easy suddenly became very, very difficult. Being the goal oriented couple we are, my husband and I found it especially difficult to find ourselves on the losing end of our quest. We had never failed at anything before, and let me tell you that this was not something we were prepared to fail at! So we kept trying … and trying … and trying….

Sex was now just that – sex with a purpose. Done when my temperature dictated, it had become a means to an end result, lacking the excitement and the passion it had once held for us.

After more than a year of frustration our relationship began to feel the strain. I was moody and short-tempered, often on the verge of tears. I couldn’t bear to watch other women’s pregnant bellies grow while mine remained an empty tomb. My every thought revolved around what I was (or had done) wrong. What was wrong with me? Why couldn’t I do what every other woman could accomplish so easily?

Pregnancy Weight Gain - The Mystery Solved by Syed Anjum

It is important that you remember that weight gain is a normal and healthy part of pregnancy. You have to gain weight in order to provide a healthy and comfortable home for the child that you will be nurturing for the next nine months.

Most women want to know what the ideal weight is during pregnancy. Honestly, there is no one answer. Weight gain will vary from woman to woman. There is no one 'ideal' weight during pregnancy, just like there is no one 'ideal' weight that is just right for al women.

That said there are certain guidelines that you can follow to ensure that the weight you gain during pregnancy is healthy.

Most physicians will recommend the following weight gain:

If you are normal weight before getting pregnant you should expect to gain between 25 and 35 pounds throughout your pregnancy.

If you are underweight prior to pregnancy you will need to gain more weight, typically between 28 and 40 pounds during your pregnancy. Your healthcare provider will be able to provide you with more specific guidelines.

If you are overweight when you become pregnant you will only need to gain between 15 and 25 pounds during your pregnancy.

Keep in mind that if you are carrying multiples (twins or more) you will typically be asked to gain even more weight, 45 pounds or more, depending on how many babies you are carrying.

When you become pregnant it is important that you avoid dieting. So, for purposes of this book we want to emphasize that it is vital that you eat healthily during your pregnancy, not diet. A healthy diet that is composed of food from each of the four food groups will help ensure that you gain the right amount of weight during your pregnancy, making it easier to shed pounds after you give birth.

Reducing unplanned pregnancies through Medicaid family planning services

By Melissa Kearney and Phillip Levine, Brookings Institution

There is widespread consensus among the American public that rates of teen pregnancy and unintended pregnancies to young, unmarried women are too high. Approximately 30 percent of teenage girls in the United States become pregnant and 20 percent give birth by age 20. Increasingly, policy-makers and advocacy groups are recognizing that the high rate of unintended pregnancy among unmarried women in their twenties is also a major social issue.

This study describes a recent analysis of state policies that expanded eligibility for Medicaid family planning services to women who do not meet regular Medicaid eligibility criteria. The results of this research show that these expanded eligibility policies had a significant impact on reducing unplanned births.

The effect on birth rates was largest for women ages 18 to 24. Data on individual behavior confirm that this reduction in births was achieved through increased use of contraception among sexually active women. The authors estimate the policy cost of preventing an unwanted birth to be around $6,800. They conclude that this is a cost-effective policy intervention relative to other policies and programs targeted at reducing teen and unwanted births.

Uncover the Truths to Increase Your Pregnancy by J.P Allen

Chinese herbalists have treated women who were unable to conceive with herbal remedies for 400 years. Their herbal concoctions have proven effective and are still used today by couples who have fertility problem. Though not as widely known as in the East, Chinese herbal infertility treatment has become another option for women in the Western world who have difficulty getting pregnant. More and more couples have turned to herbal remedies after regular medical procedures failed to help them with the infertility problem.

Here are a few herbs which are known to help women conceive:

1) Ginseng-- Ginseng is believed to help increase libido in men. Testosterone levels, sperm count, and sperm mobility are improved. It also eliminates erectile dysfunction.

2) Evening Primrose Oil-- Shortened as EPO, Evening Primrose Oil helps increase cervical fluid and mucus which are needed for the sperm to swim through the uterus and enter the fallopian tube easily. Without the assistance of the cervical mucus, it would be impossible for the sperm and the egg to be unified.

Evening Primrose Oil is probably the best infertility remedy that most women love because it has no side effects and is as effective as expensive modern medicine. The most appropriate time to take EPO is from menstruation to ovulation.

3) Black Cohosh-- Phyto-estogens which can be found in Black Cohosh are similar to the hormone estrogen in humans. Hence, it helps balance your reproductive hormone and prevent miscarriage. Native Americans have used Black Cohosh for thousands of years to treat infertility.

4) False Unicorn Root-- Failure to ovulate, irregular periods, pelvic inflammation, and infected fallopian tubes can be treated with False Unicorn Root which has mild estrogenic properties.

Symptoms of Infertility by Bruce Fields

Some of the Common Symptoms of Infertility

The symptoms of infertility are not always obvious, though most individuals tend to suspect that something isn't quite right when they show up to the doctor for testing. Some infertility is unavoidable. As we age, for example, our bodies become more likely to be infertile. Some symptoms of infertility can be symptoms of other conditions and, whether or not one is trying to conceive, they should have those symptoms investigated in the interest of maintaining good overall health. Men and women can both exhibit symptoms which may be red flags for a fertility problem.

In women, one of the most obvious symptoms of infertility is an irregular or absent menstrual cycle. There are various conditions that can cause a woman's menstrual cycle to be upset or absent and many of them are linked to infertility. Normally, a woman bleeds for 3 to 7 days. If bleeding is heavy or light, one should consult with their doctor. Excessive cramping and less or more days spent bleeding than normal can also be considered as reasons to visit a doctor to ensure that everything is in order. The menstrual cycle is one of the most valuable indicators of potential problems.

In men, sometimes symptoms of infertility aren't readily apparent. Obviously, impotence is a symptom that should be checked out by a doctor sooner rather than later. Impotence can be a symptom of other disorders, as well, and merits a doctor's visit. Men may have a reduced sperm count or issues with their sperm which are impossible to detect without visiting a clinic. These problems may or may not be treatable but, if trouble conceiving persists for a long period of time, the male partner should have their sperm checked out to make sure that all is well.

Age, though it seems obvious, is a major symptom of infertility. When women are in their early 30's, they have about a 20 percent chance of becoming pregnant during any menstrual cycle. When they reach the age of 40, that percentage drops to around 5 percent. The body is less likely to conceive successfully as we age. Women who do become pregnant at a later age need more medical attention than do younger women and the baby must be carefully monitored for health inside the womb. The older one is, the harder it becomes to have children.

Some of the other symptoms of infertility are other disorders. If one has illnesses which are chronic such as diabetes they may have a lower chance of conceiving. The same applies for hyperthyroidism. Individuals who have had STDs may also have a lower chance of conceiving and, when they do conceive, there may be a higher risk of certain birth defects. Smoking and drinking are also linked to lower rates of fertility. Generally, if one does not have such a condition but it seems impossible to conceive, medical intervention will be necessary to diagnose any potential problems and, hopefully, to alleviate them.

The Fields were one of millions of couples who have gone through the series of questions and possible causes for what seemed to be an inability to conceive. The journey they took is a very common one, and the success they had was also. Most people who start out with a fear that they are infertile can, with the proper knowledge and guidance, bear children and in this initial article is discussed some basic ideas on what infertility really is and how it may most commonly be approached.
